I’ve been on a streak of reading some really great books and want to share my favorites. Thanks to those who keep the recommendations coming!

Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by [Noah, Trevor]
This isn’t about how Trevor Noah became famous. Rather, it’s about growing up in South Africa as a mixed race child during pre- and post-Apartheid. It is funny, informative, and completely moving.

Turtles All the Way Down by [Green, John]
This is the first fictional book I can remember reading that really describes what it’s like to live with anxiety and the spiral of one’s own thoughts. It’s great. This line gripped me: “Most adults are just hollowed out. You watch them try to fill themselves up with booze or money or God or fame or whatever they worship, and it all rots them from the inside until nothing is left but the money or booze or God they thought would save them.”

Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by [Townsend, Jessica]
If you like Harry Potter, I definitely recommend reading this book – the first in a new series. It’s incredible and transports you to a new world.

Educated: A Memoir by [Westover, Tara]
If you like The Glass Castle, you should definitely read this. Wow. What a story!

I Am Watching You by [Driscoll, Teresa]
This is my recommendation for your page-turning beach read this summer.

Happy reading! I hope you find enjoyment from some of these recommendations.
